# Troubleshoot the Scribe MCP connection

> Fix common Scribe MCP issues: tools not showing after connecting, and re-authenticating when your session expires.

If your assistant cannot see or run Scribe tools, work through the checks below. For what the connection can access and whether your data is safe, see the [FAQ](/en/ai-agents/faq).

    Confirm the connector is enabled and that you finished the Scribe sign-in. In Claude, the tools appear in the chat composer's tool menu. If the sign-in did not complete, remove the connector and add it again. If you added Scribe by URL, check that your plan allows custom connectors, since some assistants gate them behind paid or developer settings. Installing from the Claude directory or the ChatGPT plugin store needs no such setting.

    Sessions expire for security. If actions start returning an authentication error, open your assistant's connector settings and sign in to Scribe again. Re-authenticating restores access without changing anything in your workspace.
